About Me.
I’m Michael James — a 31-year-old actor, dancer, and singer originally from the LA area, now back in New York and ready for the next chapter in my career. I hold a BFA in Musical Theatre with a Dance minor from Point Park University, where I graduated cum laude in 2015. Since then, I’ve worked coast to coast, building a career rooted in discipline, passion, and versatility. I’ve been dancing, acting, and singing my way through both coasts, with a heart full of passion and a suitcase full of ambition. My creative work isn’t limited to the stage — I’m also a writer and visual artist. I’m currently in the process of publishing my first book of poetry. Creating art — whether through movement, language, or materials — is how I stay grounded and connected to something bigger. Art, for me, is about connection — to self, to others, and to the world we live in. Growing up, a few key moments shaped my path: watching The Wiz Live at 10 years old, Jim Carrey’s performance as Count Olaf in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and the 2015 Broadway revival of On the Town. Those experiences showed me the power of performance — and made it clear this was the life I wanted. These pivotal moments ignited my love for storytelling in all its forms. I’m proud to be part of the queer community, and I stay actively involved both in NYC and back in LA. I show up as an advocate, a learner, and someone who believes in using their platform to lift others up. Also, don’t be surprised if you catch me locked into a season of Drag Race — I’m a dedicated fan and not shy about it. Now with new representation and a fresh focus, I’m back in NYC, pursuing opportunities on Broadway and beyond. I bring years of experience, a strong work ethic, and the mindset of an artist who never stops evolving. I pride myself on passion, authenticity, and the drive to leave every space brighter than I found it.
Known
I am full, lasting, and deep
A mountain of joy
A sky of grief
An ocean of gratitudeI’ve explored my terrain
And captured my moments
With the movement of my soul
Within the stillness of sorrow.
A babbling river of self love
A strike of lamented lightning
A grotto of hope -Michael James
